A Historic Home for Vintage Finds

Our building has a wonderful story of its own. Originally built in the late 1950s, the space was home to the J.J. Newberry department store. It featured a beautiful Mid-Century Modern design and was a massive hit with the local community. While the original store eventually closed in the 1980s, the building remained a landmark.

In 2011, the Susquehanna River caused a devastating flood in downtown Owego. The historic building suffered water damage and sat empty for two years. That is when Jim and Cornelia Mead stepped in. They had a vision to bring the space back to life. On February 14, 2013, they opened the doors to crowds of eager visitors, echoing the grand opening of the 1950s.
